Early Church and Town Records
In the earliest days of the town, the Congregational Church of Christ in Hatfield held many of the records on births, marriages, and deaths. Some of these church records are stored at the Hatfield Town Hall in original bound volumes. In September 2020, historian Peter Thomas photographed the church and town records so that the digital versions would encourage the use of unpublished, primary documents for historical and genealogical research.
The Church Records are in two parts: Clerks Records and Vital Statistics. Each contains many pages; we recommend RiGHT-CLICKING on a page you wish to see and opening it in a new tab, so you can zoom in for more detail!
To view the digitized Town Records, see the two HATFIELD Vital Records files on the Hatfield Town Clerk's page, HERE.
These records are also part of a Historical Society project to transcribe them and digitize the valuable date they hold - click HERE for more on how to help with that!

Hatfield Tercentenary Genealogy Reports:1970
In honor of Hatfield’s 300th birthday in 1970, many families completed genealogical questionnaires that listed family information going back four generations or more. We’ve scanned these original reports as PDF files (see links below), named after the person filling out the form. We’ve also transcribed the information in a searchable names-only spreadsheet (link at right). We suggest you find the person you’re looking for in this names-only file, and then find the pertinent report.
But for you genealogists and others who want more, we’ve also included a searchable version that lists all the information, including dates and places of birth. (FYI, this file stretches 61 columns!) |

This collection was processed in the summer of 2013 by UMASS PhD student Amanda Tewes of Morgan Hill, CA, working as an intern for the Hatfield Historical Museum. |
