Volunteering

It takes lots of people to hold the history of a place, including many volunteers! We are working on a Digital Capacity Grant through Mass Humanities, funded by the Mass Cultural Council. The grant's goal is to increase accessibility to the collections of Hatfield's museums and opportunities for folks to be involved with the Hatfield Historical Society on-line. Check out some options below.

Digital Volunteer Program

Last fall, we hosted a series of video presentations on how to get involved as a Digital Volunteer in one or more of these areas. To learn more about the programs, click on the Events tab above, and to view any of the programs or sign up to help, see the links below.

Smith Academy senior Sofia Panlilio has been translating some of the Polish documents in the museum so they can be shared with a wider audience. She translated some loose handwritten notes tucked inside the book, "Polska" (or Poland), and was surprised what she found. Click HERE to find out, and click below to hear Sofi sing it!! (“Płynie Wisła Płynie”)

This wooden trap on display in the museum caught the eye of a volunteer who wanted to know more. Elliot Baker's research in 2020 revealed it to be a commercially made rat trap made c. 1910 - that we had placed on display upside down!
